On the edge of the Tyrrhenian Sea, halfway between Bonifacio and Bastia, the splendid seaside resort of Ghisonaccia captivates every year the hearts of the lucky holidaymakers who come to visit it. Sun, fine sandy beaches and escape will be on the program of your stay in Corsica.

In the south of the eastern Corsican plain, in the department of Haute-Corse, Ghisonaccia is one of those small villages that are absolutely perfect where you can finally put your suitcases down and enjoy all the splendours of the Corsican coast. Bordered by the River Fiumorbo, the history of the community is undeniably linked to the history of water, which is present in large quantities thanks to the pond of Urbino, as well as the Tyrrhenian Sea which borders its beaches for several kilometres. Although the commune does not have a strong historical or architectural heritage, it does have a unique church. If the exterior of Saint-Michel church is not very attractive, push its wide door to discover splendid neo-Byzantine frescoes inside, representing several scenes from the gospel, painted during the 1980s.

Ghisonaccia's nature will meet the expectations of holidaymakers looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, thanks to its magnificent Pinia forest: one of the last maritime pine forests in Europe, this forest is bordered both by almost 4 kilometres of fine sandy beaches and by the sunny banks of the Urbino pond. A real preserved cocoon where maritime pines, holm oaks, white poplars and alders cohabit in harmony, it is a place for hiking, but also for observing animals. Depending on the time of the year you stay at Ghisonaccia, you will be able to see owls, falcons, but also Corsican deer, as well as a wide variety of colourful birds. Lake Urbino is also worth a visit for the beautiful landscapes it offers: situated in an area where nature reigns supreme, it is mainly used for shellfish and oyster farming. Also, there are many restaurants in the area where you can taste delicious 100% local oysters! But don't stop at oysters, because Corsican gastronomy is rich in many gourmet flavours! You will not be able to stay at Ghisonaccia without tasting lonzu, figatellu, coppa and other cheeses such as brocciu, with a little olive oil... A real treat!

But Ghisonaccia's major asset is its beaches, undeniably. Bathed by the Tyrrhenian Sea, they offer visitors passing through wonderful long stretches of white sand where they can laze around in complete tranquillity. The most unspoilt of them all, La Pinia beach, is well worth a visit. Surrounded by the Pina forest, it will be perfect for enjoying long lazy breaks away from the crowds. More frequented, but still "breathable", the beach of Vignale is ideal for families as swimming is supervised during the summer period. But Erba Rossa beach and the Marina d'Oru beach are the two most popular beaches in the resort. With their places to play beach volleyball, their parasols, their stands for renting mattresses or kayaks, they are also the best equipped on the Ghisonaccian coast. Whether you like swimming or reading, whether you are here to perfect your tan or to show off your sandcastle building skills, you are bound to find something to suit you.
