Sallanches is located in the Haute-Savoie department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Perched between 515 and 2749 meters above sea level, this township is located in the northern part of the Sallanches basin, a vast glacial plain crossed by the Arve River, and bordered by the renowned massifs of the Aravis, the Faucigny and the Mont-Blanc. In terms of built heritage, Sallanches is definitely a land of castles.
