The village of Les Contamines-Montjoie lies at an altitude of 1164 metres at the foot of Mont Blanc. This charming resort with the traditional architecture of the mountain villages is very appreciated by winter sports lovers who come every year to tread its slopes generously covered with snow.

Labelled "Famille Plus" resort, this village of Savoie makes the happiness of small and large thanks to its numerous infrastructures. Les Contamines-Montjoie has a nursery, a "snow garden" to discover skiing from an early age, a beginner's area to introduce you to skiing with your family, but also sledging runs and activities adapted according to age. Alpine skiing or cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowshoeing, biathlon, ski jumping, paragliding in front of Mont-Blanc, dog sledding, speed riding, ice climbing or horse-drawn carriage rides : here is something to occupy your stay in many ways ! On the ski side, the resort is divided into two different areas : the alpine and the Nordic. The first has 120 kilometres of pistes, 25 ski lifts and more than 48 slopes to run down, while the second is crossed by more than 25 kilometres of cross-country skiing and 37 kilometres of snowshoeing trails. With a very high level of snow, Contamines-Montjoie is a paradise for off-piste skiers : from the top of the ski lifts, you will be able to enjoy impressive descents (more than 1300 meters of altitude difference) in powder snow.

Situated in a magnificent natural setting, the resort is largely occupied by the Contamines Nature Reserve. On foot or on snowshoes, discover the local flora and fauna by walking through the snow-covered fir and spruce forests that populate this highest nature reserve in France : if you are lucky, you may come across ibexes or chamois ! Take also the paths which connect the various hamlets of the station in order to discover the chalets with the typically Savoyard architecture, but also the numerous churches and chapels which mark out the valley.

If after all these activities you still have some energy left, why not try curling, a survival course in the mountains or hiking in the heart of the Vallée Blanche to meet the glaciers ?

Finally, after spending long hours in the snow, will come the time to warm up around good local dishes. The village has many restaurants as well as several high altitude restaurants, among which "La Grange", "l'Auberge de Colombaz" and "Chez Gaston" (facing Mont Blanc) are to be discovered absolutely.

"Le Carnotzet" is a great restaurant in a warm place ideal for eating a fondue, pierrade or raclette. The bar "Le Saxo" is a very intimate bar ideal after skiing.
