The Hautes-Alpes are not only snow and skiing, they are also communes with an impressive historical and cultural heritage. Crots is the ideal destination for history and nature lovers. Small corner of quietude with the mountain, this commune of 1000 inhabitants is located near the town of Embrun and the ski resorts of large scale as Orres. Under the sun or under the snow, Crots has an undeniable charm reinforced by its period monuments and its sublime natural landscapes. With the surrounding peaks in the background, holidays take on a whole new dimension !

Crots' greatest asset is his history. It has marked the urban heritage of the village. It is estimated that the village has existed in its present form since 1198. Two great historical monuments have witnessed its evolution over the centuries. Picomtal Castle is situated in an exceptional natural environment. Its construction took place over several centuries, it began around 1080 when the Embrun, lords of the valley, were driven out of Châteauroux. They first built a wooden keep, later transformed into a stone keep. In the 14th century, the castle and its four towers were built. They were considerably renovated during the Renaissance by the Embrun heir, Martin de la Villette. Today, its luxurious interior hosts many events of all kinds : culinary workshops, dinners, concerts, treasure hunts, conferences... The choice is yours !

Another unmissable monument of Crots: Notre-Dame de Boscodon Abbey. This 12th century building was once one of the largest abbeys in the region. It was born following a gift from the owner of the territory, Guillaume de Montmirail, to monks of the monastic order of Chalais. The interior of the abbey is the opposite of the Château de Picomtal : sobriety is the key word. No stained glass, sculptures or paintings, the place is entirely dedicated to concentration. Today, the place is open to all. Workshops, shows and exhibitions on artistic themes are organised regularly in the abbey.

In Crots, outdoor activities are in the spotlight during the summer! Located near the lake of Serre-Ponçon, the Crots Aventure park offers several treetops of different levels and unlimited access. What could be better for a family afternoon ? There is a course reserved for toddlers, accessible from the age of three. For a unique discovery of the landscapes of the Hautes-Alpes, go to Mont'Ânes. Hiking with donkeys or llamas, you couldn't be more unusual !
