Want to take off? Stop off in the corsair city! On the banks of the English Channel, Saint-Malo is one of the most popular seaside resorts in Brittany. Known above all for its fortified city and its historical ramparts, the city was destroyed during the Second World War before being finally rebuilt. Walk around the ramparts to get an overview of the inner city and the magnificent beaches that surround it. Stroll along the Château de Saint-Malo, built in the 15th century, it now houses the town hall.

The old town is full of small shops: ice-cream makers, crepe makers and other restaurants with local flavours will certainly whet your appetite. Try Kouign-Amann from Boulangerie Robino, sweet pancakes and buckwheat pancakes from Crêperie du Corps de Garde located on Bon Secours beach. Due to its maritime culture, seafood lovers will not miss the opportunity to taste Cancale oysters served in the restaurant Les 7 Mers, with a view of the bay. Saint-Malo is one of the most popular holiday destinations in France, it hosts a casino and a thalassotherapy centre. The city contains a rich heritage, but also small secret streets and more than fifty buildings classified as historic monuments.

Saint-Malo lives at the rhythm of the tides: at low tide, go down from the ramparts to enjoy the great Beach, and take a walk on the north side of the city to discover the National Fort, located near the fortifications. Classified as a historical monument, it was built by the architect Vauban on the orders of King Louis XIV to defend the corsair city from the British invasion. From the Fort, you will have a breathtaking view of Saint-Malo!

The tomb of Chateaubriand on the island of Grand Bé is also accessible by foot when the sea retreats: located at the mouth of the river Rance at the foot of the ramparts of Saint-Malo, you can access it by going through the beach of Bonsecours.

Even if the water of Saint-Malo is not known to be very hot, take the time to swim and relax on one of the city's fine sandy beaches. The Grande Plage du Sillon beach is 3 kilometres long: you can go catamarans, sand yachts, and other water sports. Children will enjoy Bon Secours beach, its seawater pool, diving board and exceptional panoramic views!

Very beautiful region and wonderful weather for 1 week. It's a pity, given the health situation, that the restaurants and cultural places were closed... hence the small regret of not having been able to enjoy Brittany to the full.

The big advantage: everything is nearby. It is true that you have to take the car but frankly very fast access to Saint Malo and its surroundings. The aquarium is really only a few kilometers away. Le.Mont Saint Michel is only 40 minutes away by car. Cancal is 25 minutes away. It's worth the detour to eat at the "Crêperie des Lutins" in Saint Malo. Finally there are a lot of visits to be made in the area. Nothing but happiness.

Saint Malo with its fortifications, miles of walks or swimming, and especially make days to visit the region: Dinard, Cancale, Dinan ... We went as far as Cap Fréhel: magnificent and the Mont Saint Michel on the other side. We didn't stop... A top stay.
