Located just at the mouth of the Courant de Contis, between Lit-et-Mixe and Saint-Julien-en-Born, Contis offers its visitors a dream setting for authentic holidays. During the summer, take the time to visit the Contis market set up on the village esplanade, where the stalls are full of delicious local products: tourtière, merveilles, pastis landais, canelés and dishes based on Landes asparagus, farm duck or ceps will certainly be in the spotlight. In terms of heritage, it is impossible to miss the chapel and the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine fountain, the art house cinema in Contis or its famous lighthouse. Between April and September, the luckiest ones will even be able to climb the 183 steps of the lighthouse to discover from its summit perched in the middle of the pines a breathtaking 360° panorama of the coast and the seaside resort!

The undeniable asset of Contis is the ocean. Surrounding the resort, it is easily accessible by marked routes for walking and mountain biking; routes that will also allow you to reach some of the most famous resorts on the coast, such as Mimizan, which is only 15 kilometres away. Along the coastline of Contis-les-Bains, you will find huge beaches of golden sand where you can set up your parasol for a relaxing break by the sea. These beaches are adored by families who come to bathe in peace, but are also well known to surfers who try in numbers to tame the waves of the Atlantic. Our advice? Try a stand-up paddle or canoe trip to discover the wild beauty of the Courant de Contis at ebb tide as far as the Pont Rose and its Natura 2000 listed area, rich in incredible biodiversity.
