17 kilometers south of Mont-de-Marsan, Saint-Sever is a small concentrate of history, nature and sun. On its north side, the visitor will discover the Landes plain planted with pine trees with contrasting panoramas, and on its south side, the magnificent rolling hills of Chalosse. With a border marked by the tortuous meanders of the Adour river which has peacefully watered Saint-Sever for centuries, these two natural regions have forged the marked identity of the village with their history and their wealth. A city dating back to the Middle Ages, occupied since Antiquity, it reveals a charming heritage to discover along its narrow streets. What to see? The abbey church, without a doubt! A must-see site in the history of Saint-Sever, the 11th century abbey church is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as on the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrimage Route. You can also discover the marvelous and inspiring Jacobins Convent, a dynamic place that hosts exhibitions, craftsmen and the Museum of Art and History of Cap de Gascogne, but which is also a place of extraordinary tranquility where you can find some coolness on hot summer days. Visit also the church of Augreilh, the chapel of Saint-Jean de Péré, the church of Sainte-Eulalie de Saint-Sever, or the Carmel of Christ-Roi which welcomes since 1931 a community of carmelites. As far as civil heritage is concerned, you can't miss the House of Doctor Sentex registered as a Historic Monument for its building and its Gallo-Roman mosaics (located at 9 Place de Verdun), but also the Gallo-Roman villa of Gleyzia d'Augreilh, the Castle of General Lamarque, and the "Old Quarters" of Saint-Sever!

A cultural, historical and dynamic destination, Saint-Sever organizes numerous events throughout the year. On the program? The Saint-Jean festivities, which are a must during the last weekend of June, but also historical shows (the Vasconniales), craft exhibitions in August, botanical exhibitions in the heart of the Cloister of the Jacobins, the Péré festival, a bullfighting festival, and gourmet exhibitions.

Finally, those who love nature and the great outdoors will be able to hike in Saint-Sever through two natural areas of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest! On the Adour side, you will discover a rich and fascinating biodiversity, where swans, kingfishers, harriers and other laughing gulls have taken up residence! Walks with your feet in the water, visits to Mont-de-Marsan, Grenade-sur-l'Adour and other mountain bike excursions through the Landes will complete this stay in Saint-Sever.
