Taking advantage of its exceptional location on the Côte Sauvage, Batz-sur-Mer, a very popular seaside resort in the Loire-Atlantique, is one of those destinations for which lovers of wide open spaces and charming villages instantly fall in love. Surrounded by the rocky coast and immense beaches of fine sand, but also by the salt marshes and the Atlantic Ocean, Batz-sur-Mer offers its visitors breathtaking panoramas which, for sure, will not leave you indifferent.

Batz-sur-Mer is a family seaside resort admirably combining softness of life, dynamism, character, but also architectural and natural heritage. It is ideally located along the Atlantic coast, allowing you to easily discover all the most beautiful tourist attractions of the region and neighbouring Brittany. First of all, in its city centre, there is no shortage of riches : built during the 15th and 16th centuries, the Gothic church of Saint-Guénolé, famous for its steeple more than 60 metres high and its magnificent organs, is listed as a Historic Monument. Overlooking the entire Guérande Peninsula, it offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the region thanks to its baluster terrace accessible via a staircase of 184 narrow steps. If the climb is a bit sporty, we assure you that the view on Noirmoutier and Belle-Île-en-Mer is worth it ! A few steps away, you will find the Notre-Dame-du-Mûrier chapel (15th century), as well as numerous testimonies of religious art in the image of the wooden cross of Roffiat, decorated with hearts, and the cross of Sorrows, carved in a granite menhir. As for culture, many museums are worth a visit in Batz-sur-Mer. To change idleness sessions or to occupy an afternoon in the gloomy weather, head for the Museum of the Salt Marshes or the Museum of the Grand Blockhaus : absolutely unique in Europe, this museum installed in a command post on the Atlantic Wall is one of the largest blockhouses ever built. You will be able to discover its rooms, its armoury, its engine room and its radio center, for a perfect immersion in the life of the bunkers.

At the foot of the ramparts of Guérande, Batz-sur-Mer is a small town of character where everything is done so that families can spend pleasant moments. Fishing on foot, swimming, mini-golf, walks... You will have only the embarrassment of the choice. As for excursions, the commune is the starting point for many hikes for young and old. We recommend the "Les Granits de Batz" trail on the Wild Coast for a perfect discovery of the town and its coastline. From the Place des Mûriers, you will take the direction of the various buildings of the city, to finally furrow the famous path of the customs officers on the GR34, however prohibited to the bicycles for reasons of preservation of the littoral. However, cyclists can rest assured that they will be able to enjoy superb walks on the Vélocéan which runs along the whole of the Côte Sauvage, as well as itineraries towards Kervalet, Trégaté, Kermoisan and Roffiat, the magnificent salt marsh villages surrounding Batz-sur-Mer. How about a pony ride, a donkey ride or even a carriage ride through the salt marshes ? This is the ideal activity for young and old to discover the marshes and their history during a fun outing to the rhythm of magnificent draught horses.

You will have access to a wide range of activities, from surfing to longe-côte, bodyboarding, sailing, surfing, stand-up paddle, funboarding, windsurfing and boat trips, not forgetting swimming of course ! Attracting many holidaymakers every year, the beaches and coves of Batz-sur-Mer are among the most magnificent in the Pays-de-la-Loire region. Swimmers who like wild places will head for the beaches of "La Govelle" (beloved by sportsmen and fishing fans on foot), "Valentin" (sailing spot) or "Saint-Michel". With its rocks, its small coloured huts, its port, its menhir and its breathtaking panoramas, this last one is one of the most pleasant of the seaside resort. Lovers of tranquility will be able to enjoy many small coves sheltered from the winds and the looks of the rocks and cliffs of the Côte Sauvage, such as the coves of the Baie des Bonnes Sœurs, the Roche Mathieu and the Baie du Dervin.
