Spread out on the Causse de Sauveterre and the Lot valley, the town of Chanac multiplies the invitations to come and discover its charms. Away from the traditional tourist trails, Chanac is in the heart of the French countryside, 90 kilometres from Rodez and 100 kilometres from Alès. Bathed by the waters of the Lot, this elegant town perched on its rocky spur takes place at an altitude of 650 metres, overlooking the Olt valley. Caressed by a particularly mild and welcoming Mediterranean climate, it is home to some magnificent sites, which bear witness today to its rich history. Here, the old stones with a hundred shades of ochre and orange stand out marvelously on the immense blue canvas of the sky, only disturbed by the green of the tall fir trees that dot its slopes, reputed to shelter numerous megaliths. The medieval castle of Chanac is worth seeing: with its large square keep, the vestige of a thick 12th century fortress, it is one of the oldest monuments in the commune. The Clock Tower of Chanac, but also the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, the statue of the Sacred Heart, the Place du Plô and its fountain, the splendid Château des Ressources, and the fortified complex of Le Villard are to be added to the list of your visits during your holidays in the city of Chanac.

During the summer months, Chanac becomes a dynamic destination, perfect for family holidays. Its famous trail, but also its votive festival, its shows, its Festival Détours du Monde, the Festa d'Estiu, but also its markets, its garage sales, its exhibitions and its concerts attract many curious people every year. On the nature side, you will be able to attend a whole host of activities allowing you to discover the richness of the local fauna and flora, but you can also opt for walking, horse riding or cycling tours according to your desires, allowing you to discover all the most beautiful faces of Chanac and the Lot valley.
