Wedged between Gouville-sur-Mer and Pirou, the town of Anneville-sur-Mer is one of these beloved destinations for families. Dynamic without being too popular with holidaymakers, it offers the perfect setting for a well-deserved rest under the Normandy sky.

Now attached to the seaside resort of Gouville-sur-Mer, the small town of Anneville-sur-Mer is a true haven of peace, in the heart of the Normandy coast. In the Manche department, it is the ideal place to put down your suitcases and set off to discover all that makes up the charm of this corner of France. On the town side, Anneville-sur-Mer has a charming little heritage, made up of an old 9th century church known for its wooden vault, as well as an old mill on the Mesnil side. The 14th century Saint-Malo de Gouville church is also worth a visit for the splendour of its Norman Romanesque style buildings and its sculptures.

On the sea side, and it is above all that which interests you (we know it well!), Anneville-sur-Mer has a really superb coastline. Situated south of the Geffosses harbour, the beach of Anneville-sur-Mer is a real paradise for water sports enthusiasts who will be able to practise their favourite sports there without any worries. A well-known surfing and kitesurfing spot, it attracts both the curious and the gliding aficionados who find themselves there in all weathers. In the direction of Gouville, it is the Cabane Vauban that catches the eye: perched on the coast along the customs officers' path, this 1744 building was once a guardhouse used to watch the sea for possible invasions. Made of schist and granite, it is often photographed and offers hikers superb panoramas of the open sea. Accessible at low tide, the Sénéquet lighthouse is a must: built in 1857 nearly 4 kilometres from the coast, it is one of the most popular hiking sites in the area. After taking care to inform you about the tide times, you can reach it in a few minutes of walk and discover from its foot a wide panorama on the neighbouring Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey. The west coast of the Cotentin is dotted with a myriad of footpaths and cycle routes to allow Sunday sports enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies alike to discover the beauty of the region. Heading towards the fortified castle of Pirou, Coutances, Granville or even Mont-Saint-Michel (90 kilometres away), and strolling along the coast to discover the emblematic little colourful huts of Gouville-sur-Mer, you will not fail to marvel at the variety and uniqueness of the coastal panoramas.

Finally, staying in Anneville-sur-Mer is also a chance to sample the delights of the local cuisine. The Cotentin region is renowned for its many dishes, and the gastronomy of the Manche region will not fail to make your taste buds wriggle! On the menu? Saint-Vaast oysters with a delicate hazelnut taste, Isigny butter with seaweed, Barfleur mussels, Cotentin blue lobster, sea bass fillet, Isigny caramels, teurgoule, Normandy tart, fallue, Bricquebec trap, carrots and leeks from Créances, pancakes and other seafood products will conquer young and old alike.
