In the heart of the Channel coast, next to the seaside resort of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, lies the small commune of Quettehou. An authentic Norman destination, 9 kilometres from Barfleur, this quiet little town is the perfect place for a relaxing stay in harmony with the sea.

Rich in ancient history, Quettehou, an ancient Viking village, dominates the bay of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue from its heights. Renowned for its calm and beautiful panoramas, the town has a charming heritage, which we invite you to discover during your walks. The church of Saint-Vigor, classified as a Historic Monument, is on the inventory of sites worth visiting. Built in Valognes stone at the beginning of the 12th century, it impresses by its pure lines, its nave and its beautiful arcades, but also by the viewpoints it offers to its visitors on the Calvados and Manche coasts. In particular, you will be able to discover a superb panorama of the bay of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and its famous Vauban Tower, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To complete your visit, you can also visit the Saint-Michel chapel, the Saint-Sébastien chapel, not forgetting the old Quettehou train station, the Morsalines stop and the grain market, built in 1865.

A dynamic city, Quettehou organises festivities throughout the year, such as its traditional Black Prince Festival, the Marguerite Festival or the Chamber Music Festival in Val de Saire in August, as well as concerts. The village also hosts every Tuesday morning on its Market Square a large market of regional products, perfect for buying fruit, vegetables and culinary preparations with local flavours. Push also the door of the small restaurants of the town, the occasion for you to initiate you to the delights of the Norman flavours, of the impossible to circumvent bourdelot of Normandy to the andouillettes, while passing by oysters poached in the cider, the mussels of Barfleur, the omelette of Saint-Vaast, Avranche biscuits, apple pudding, apple roasted with sugar, milk jam, Normandy shortbread, Normandy pancakes, mussel soup, Camembert tart, teurgoule, tripe, apple pies and gâteau. There will be something for everyone!

There are many tourist itineraries that you will find in Quettehou, which will certainly allow you to visit the city and its surroundings, but also to visit some of the most beautiful sites not far away, such as the famous Vauban Tower of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and its fishing port, but also the charming maritime city of Barfleur, Montfarville and its church, the Gatteville lighthouse, the D-Day landing beaches, La Pernelle and its panorama, Cherbourg or Valognes, City of Art and History called the "Norman Versailles" thanks to its many very elegant mansions.

Finally, how to evoke a stay in Quettehou without passing by its beach. The Beach of the Shore, that's its name, offers to the onlookers splendid panoramas on the Fort de la Hougue in the distance, as well as on the oyster beds at low tide. The place lends itself particularly well to cockle fishing, but also to swimming and family sandcastle contests. All in all, a perfect holiday in Normandy!
