Historical, cultural and exotic, Normandy is, let's face it, always a good idea for a family holiday. Marked by the Second World War, the department of La Manche attracts tourists curious to discover the famous landing beaches. Do you feel like it? Pack your bags and head for Ravenoville.

Attached to the commune of Sainte-Mère-Église, the village of Ravenoville is located on the eastern coast of the Cotentin coast. Between Foucarville and Saint-Marcouf, about thirty minutes from the famous Cherbourg, this small town marked by history is divided into two distinct parts, with a town sector and a seaside resort on the seafront. As you stroll through the village, you will discover a rich, seductive and marked architectural heritage. But what to visit? Saint-Gilles church is worth a visit: with its large stove, magnificent granite walls and Gothic architecture, it is one of the oldest monuments in the town. The remains of Ravenoville Castle are also worth a visit, as is the 19th century eponymous fort, located in the place of the remains of an old 17th century square redoubt. After these visits, head for the Rue des Alliés: along the beaches, it will offer you a quiet break and a magnificent view of the sea, especially during the summer sunsets.

What attracts to Ravenoville is precisely its seaside: located in the Utah Beach area, it now unveils along its sand nearly 80 small colourful houses, of different sizes and shapes, forming a setting that is both surprising and poetic facing the sea. Long, very long, the beach of Les Dunes is its name, is appreciated for its calm and its large space, allowing everyone to plant their parasol in complete peace without having to suffer the proximity of their neighbours. In addition to being ideal for a reading break, a swim break or a picnic, this beach is particularly popular with sports enthusiasts who enjoy kitesurfing or sailing, with the added bonus of a beautiful view of the archipelago of the Saint-Marcouf Islands.

This beach is also marked by the D-Day landing; with Utah Beach, Ravenoville was one of the areas of the air landing, when the Allied forces of the 82nd and 101st Airborne arrived on its sand on June 6, 1944. For landing tours, we recommend that you visit the "Airborne Museum" located in Ravenoville (a museum honouring American soldiers who distinguished themselves during the June 6, 1944 parachutists), as well as the Crisbecq Battery, Azeville Battery, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and its American cemetery, and the Caen Memorial, which are among the highlights of your stay in the wake of history.
