Facing the famous rock of the same name, the town of Le Diamant has all the assets for a successful holiday. Cultural, dynamic, sporty and conducive to relaxation in a dream setting, this seaside village in southwest Martinique attracts many tourists every year.

Diamond is first of all a story, linked to piracy in particular and that of its rock: located two kilometres from the coast, this volcanic rock, more than 175 metres high, was once a landmark for pirates, as well as a fortified shelter during the conflicts between the English and French in the Caribbean Sea. Today it is a true nature reserve and a paradise for birds, snakes and other island animals. But why is this islet called the "Diamond Rock"? Because of its shape, but also because of thousands of small salt crystals embedded in its rock that glitter in the sun. Unfortunately, you will not be able to visit it, but good swimmers and divers will not fail to discover its exceptional seabed, populated by thousands of fish and turtles.

The town itself is worth a visit: its beautiful church with the air of an overturned boat, its Shell and Sea Museum, its Diamond Museum, but also its House of the Bagnard or its Statue of the Brown Negro are among the main attractions of the city. Take the time to stroll through its pretty streets, dotted with small Creole residences and restaurants where you can taste many local specialities. As for drinks, we are happy to succumb to the delights of ti-punch or planter, with moderation of course! On the plate, acras of cod, bondamanjak pepper, roasted fish bluff, chicken Colombo, fierce avocado and boucané chicken compete for the spotlight. If there is one market not to be missed, it is the Diamond market! An olfactory, visual and gustatory journey, he alone will take you on a tour of Martinique and its culinary treasures.

Hiking fans? You will absolutely have to visit the paths of the Dizac forest and follow the roads leading to Morne Larcher which, from its highest point, offers a breathtaking view of the Rock, Saint Lucia in the distance and the south of the island. If there is one thing that cannot be ignored when it comes to walking trails, it is the "Route des Anses": along the Caribbean coast, this itinerary, which is very popular with travellers, will allow you to visit the Diamond Peninsula. From year to year, you will discover all that makes the beauty of this almost paradisiacal destination. Anse Cafard in particular, is certainly the most famous of all thanks to its monument: Cap 110. Built in 1998 to mark the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery, this memorial features 15 tall statues standing facing the sea as one man and is a tribute to the slaves of the region.

Finally, Le Diamant is so popular with holidaymakers because of its beach, nestled in the heart of an idyllic setting. Running for several kilometres along the city, this wide expanse of white sand is worthy of the most beautiful postcards. Very famous for water sports, you will have the opportunity to practice a wide range of activities: surfing, scuba diving, jet-skiing, kitesurfing, paragliding, boat trips to the Rock...
