If the snow is not there and you have young children, go to the stables of the Dordogne for fun pony activities with a good welcome: a huge playground that will let off steam for young and old!

"L'Auberge des Mancelles" (very close to the hamlet of Les Loges) is to be recommended with its regional dishes and its very pleasant terrace at the foot of the mountains.

Very good restaurant "Le Cyrano" in La Bourboule (affordable prices and specialities - very good welcome), the shop "Monsieur Aurélien" in Mont Dore (tea and homemade hot chocolate - very good welcome), the bikers' bar in Mont Dore ("La Licorne") for its delicious mulled wine and good humour.
