In the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees Natural Park, Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via is a real nugget for nature and adventure lovers. Better known as Font-Romeu thanks to its famous ski resort, the town is located in the heart of the Pyrenees-Orientales, in the Occitanie region. High, very high perched, the town of Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via is spread out between 1312 and 2213 meters of altitude, on the mountains of the Pyrenees. Dominated by the Pic Carlit, the village located on the southern slope overlooking the Cerdane plain is divided into several districts and hamlets: Via, gathers a large number of farms, Odeillo is the area where you will find the town hall and shops (and a solar oven unique in Europe!), while Font-Romeu, the ski resort with the Grand Hotel, was built only from 1900. As you walk through the village, you will discover traces of ancestral pastoralism, and a whole host of squat Romanesque churches of immeasurable charm. What to see? The Hermitage Chapel, the Musée Sans Murs, or the famous Grand Hôtel, built at the beginning of the 21st century, a real star and the emblem of the town over the years.

The oldest winter sports resort in France after Chamonix, Font-Romeu Pyrénées 2000 is a huge ski area, with 41 ski slopes for all tastes and all levels of ability. Moreover, Font-Romeu is studded with a whole string of high altitude lakes around which lovers of Nordic skiing, ski touring and snowshoeing will be able to stroll, like the Bouillouses lake and the Pradeilles lake, adored by photographers for its splendid setting... It's almost like being in Canada! As for skiing, the youngest and the beginners will be able to take advantage of lessons at the ski school, while the pros will enjoy fun sessions in the well equipped snowparks. If alpine skiing is king, Nordic skiing is not to be outdone thanks to more than 111 kilometres of cross-country ski trails and other Nordic paths through forests and snowy plains! Dog sledding, adrenaline sessions on snowmobiles, hot water canyoning, ice diving, hot air ballooning and paragliding are all on the agenda for thrill seekers. In fine weather, when the resort changes its white coat for blue skies and dense vegetation, biathlon enthusiasts and hikers will be able to enjoy hiking itineraries for all levels and desires, ranging from short, leisurely strolls to the ultra-sporty ascents of the Pic Carlit and Pic Péric, which, from an altitude of 2810 metres, offers breathtaking views of the mountains and the neighbouring Spanish border.
