Its irregularly laid out lanes, its small church square, its steep, sloping stairways, its numerous pools and its oratories make Villard-sur-Doron a village with a crazy cachet. Nestled in the heart of the green Beaufortain valley, this peaceful little town is definitely the perfect place to put your suitcases down for a family stay in the beautiful snow-covered mountains of the Savoie department. The major asset of Villard-sur-Doron? Its ski resort, Bisanne 1500, is directly linked to the large resort of Les Saisies - Espace Diamant. Clinging to a balcony above the Beaufortain, Bisanne 1500 is one of those privileged resorts that offer their visitors unbelievable views of the most famous summit in France: Mont-Blanc. In addition to enjoying incredible panoramas during your stay, you will have the chance to ski on the 192 kilometres of rather sporty slopes of the Espace Diamant, as well as on the 77 kilometres of splendid slopes (and particularly well suited to beginners) that criss-cross the resort of Les Saisies, nothing less!

Les Saisies, a small paradise for nature skiing, is above all a friendly, family and authentic atmosphere. Surprising by the diversity and splendour of its landscapes, the area nicknamed the "snow loft of Savoie" thanks to its excellent snow conditions is known for both downhill and cross-country skiing, especially thanks to its exceptional views of Mont Blanc. The Forest of the Elves will be a great open-air playground for the youngest ones who will discover the joys of skiing while solving puzzles, when the Marmottons' trail will gently introduce them to the tricks of cross-country skiing through games. Because holidays in the mountains do not necessarily rhyme with the practice of alpine skiing, Les Saisies has for many years a magnificent Nordic area of more than 120 kilometers of marked and secure routes for the practice of ski touring and cross-country skiing, tracks between forests and huge snowy plateaus. All this with a view of the Combe de Savoir, the Mont-Blanc and the Avaris... It is not for nothing that these slopes were chosen to host the biathlon and cross-country skiing events during the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games!

But Villard-sur-Doron is more than just skiing, since amateur hikers and other mountain activity enthusiasts can discover all the splendour of the town and its surroundings on snowshoe outings. The Plan de la Paille or Plan Mariage trail will allow you to contemplate in complete tranquillity the squirrels running through the forests and clearings, the small chalets lining the Beaufortain, as well as the Mont-Blanc and the most beautiful passes of the Beaufortain massif. Ski-joering, dog-sledding, freeride, snowboarding, boardercross and half-pipe complete the range of activities that will make you succumb during the winter. Finally, during the summer, activities such as paragliding, hiking (the Croix de Coste, the Tour de Bisanne 1500, the Tour du Mont Bisanne...) or mountain biking (enduro, cross-country, cycle touring...) will allow you to enjoy all the magnificence of the mountains and the peaceful setting that Villard-sur-Doron offers.
