On the banks of the Bresque, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Sillans-la-Cascade is a choice destination for those who dream of exceptional landscapes. Not far from Salernes, Entrecasteaux and Cotignac, this village has a very ancient history and was occupied as early as prehistoric times before developing even more during the Gallo-Roman period and the Middle Ages. Full of charm, this atypical village of Dracénie Provençale is a real gift for those who love old stones. When you arrive in the village, you immediately notice the fortified enclosure, with its 17th century ramparts decorated with battlements, and the large defensive towers that once protected the village. Take the time to lose yourself in its tree-lined squares, to discover its picturesque alleys which are home to numerous restaurants where you can sit down and a host of art galleries where you can marvel. Also, after visiting the village castle, the Saint-Etienne church (from the 17th century) or the Belfry, all that remains is to discover the local star: the waterfall.

Ah, the Cascade... It is the one that gave its name to the village. Nestled in the heart of a dense forest through which hiking trails have flourished, this 42-metre waterfall boasts breathtaking colours worthy of the most beautiful exotic lagoons. A magical place, imbued with a singular atmosphere, it is a delight for photography lovers who will be able to immortalize the waterfall from all angles (in long exposure, it's a treat!). Easily accessible from the village thanks to an 800-metre walk through alleys of hundred-year-old plane trees, this breathtakingly beautiful waterfall will make you want to take a swim. But that's where it gets tricky, as swimming is strictly forbidden under the waterfall in order to preserve the fragile ecosystem of the place. In addition to the risk of rocks collapsing... So where can you swim? In the Bresque river! Accessible after a short hike through the forest, you will discover the turquoise water of the Bresque which gives its particular color to the waterfall. And if you prefer to swim in the river, you can always (by car or mountain bike for the bravest) go to the Sainte-Croix Lake, about twenty kilometres further north! A small wild Eden, this lake is perfect for swimming, sporty hikes, paddle sessions, canoeing, kayaking, sunbathing, picnics... And you can even opt for pedal boat or electric boat rides to discover the amazing beauty of the Verdon Gorges. In short, the icing on the cake of these holidays in Sillans-la-Cascade!
