It is at the gates of Provence that the charming village of Bollène takes place. Nestled at the intersection of the Ardèche, the Drôme, the Gard and the Vaucluse, in the heart of a veritable green setting to die for, Bollène spreads out its hectares of beautiful hills covered with woods and vines as far as the eye can see. Perched on its rocky promontory, the old town of Bollène offers a breathtaking panorama of the Rhone valley, the Cevennes, but also the lower town, built more recently. Rich of a very ancient history, the city of Bollène has kept many testimonies of its past that you will have the leisure to visit during your stay, like the troglodytic village of Barry, considered as one of the most important in France in this field. An old medieval village with an imposing castle built on a motte, it is worth a visit for the singularity of its architecture, for a walk as if frozen in time. In addition to this splendid site, Bollène has many magnificent buildings that you should take the time to discover; on the lower town side, the medieval and the classical blend together to form a very charming ensemble, punctuated by small picturesque Provencal squares and elegant residences set on the hillside. On the heights, the Maison Cardinalice on Rue Puy is worth a visit for its half-Romanesque, half-Renaissance architecture, as are many of the private mansions that still stand today. The Hôtel de Justamond (15th and 18th centuries) is renowned for its façade and vaulted rooms, the Hôtel d'Alaudier-Guilhermier is worth a visit for its elaborate façades, its portal, its staircases and its gypsum ceiling, while the Hôtel de Ripert d'Alauzier is worth a look for its park and gardens. But THE star of Bollène is without doubt the old Collegiate Church of Saint-Martin-du-Puy. Located on the heights of Le Puy, this 10th century building impresses with its Saint-Antoine tower, its beautiful Renaissance portal, its surprisingly unique nave, and offers incomparable views from its gardens over the old houses of the lower town and the surrounding valleys.

Sportsmen and amateurs of quiet walks will be able to take advantage of many hiking routes to discover Bollène and its surroundings. Marked out and secured, the cycle and pedestrian circuits will lead you to the plateau of the site of Barry, but also through the wine road of the Côtes du Rhône, the countryside of the Comtat Venaissin studded with numerous castles, or even the gorges of the Ardèche. Avignon, its famous bridge and its legendary Palais des Papes, but also Orange and its ancient theatre, Vaison-la-Romaine and its historical heritage, without forgetting Vallon Pont d'Arc, the Sautadet waterfalls and the Aven d'Orgnac are all sites less than 45 minutes away that you can visit during your stay in Bollène.
