Just north of Suze-la-Rousse, on the border with the Drôme, the village of Richerenches lies 8 kilometres south-west of Valréas. A town of history, culture and art, it is the ideal place to stay if you dream of a gourmet break and discoveries in the heart of breathtaking nature.

Lovers of old stones? Welcome to Richerenches! In the heart of Provence, in the Vaucluse department, Richerenches is a small, tiny medieval village that has all the makings of a large one. Barely 10 square kilometers in size, this elegant village enclaved in the Drôme between the Comtat Venaissin and the Drôme Provençale unfolds its charms along its streets full of history. And history is everywhere here, you just have to open your eyes wide to contemplate it from every angle. Richerenches, known to lovers of old stones, can boast of being home to one of the oldest and most important commanderies of the Templars of Provence from the 12th century. Hidden behind a thick defensive wall flanked by 4 imposing towers, it is one of the best preserved in all of Provence, which you can visit at your leisure during your stay. Our advice? Take the time to stroll through the narrow streets of the village to capture all the charm that transpires from its old stones! Here, the houses are tastefully restored, everything, absolutely everything makes you want to stop time to enjoy the moment! At the bend of an alley, you may come across a small square with trees, a chapel or two (Saint-Alban and Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Rencontre), a beautiful church as well as a belfry under which you can walk thanks to a wide vaulted passage, which gives Richerenches a crazy cachet.

But Richerenches, in addition to being a fantastic place to bubble under the sun, is one of the high places of the truffle in Provence. Classified as a "Site remarquable du goût", Richerenches organizes from November to April one of the most important truffle markets in the whole country, and even in Europe! Masses and other celebrations around this delicate mushroom are also organized throughout the year to share with visitors its special flavors! If the Truffle Museum is an essential part of your stay, it is also impossible not to stop off at one of the village's restaurants to taste the delights of the local cuisine. Truffle omelette, local wines, lavender honey, olives, cheeses and other fruits and vegetables of Provence will delight your taste buds.

Visits to alpacas (yes, yes!), walks along the health trail and cycle rides towards Tulette, Valréas, Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, Montélimar, Suez-la-Rousse, Pont-Saint-Esprit, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Orange and Avignon will give your Provençal stay that little taste of "je ne sais quoi" which will certainly make you want to come back!
