With the Luberon Cedar Forest as a backdrop, Lauris is one of those pearls of the Vaucluse that one would like to be able to preserve forever, so fascinating is its beauty. A real jewel nestled between the green plains and the sunny hillsides, Lauris spreads out on its rocky spur between the Luberon mountains and the Durance valley. A wonderful promontory, Lauris offers nature and heritage lovers endless panoramic views from its cliff, both on the Durance, the Luberon and the Alpilles mountain range. If Lauris is famous for its incredible panoramas, it is as much for the quality of its buildings, picturesque and full of charm, which never ceases to make the lovers of old stones succumb. One particular site is the pride of the village: its castle. An 18th century building, standing on its rock, it dominates from its belvedere beautiful old houses with well-kept gardens, where bucolic fountains and clear water ponds invite you to dream. Although it has been remodeled on many occasions and has lost its superb appearance, the castle is still worth a visit for the panoramic views it affords of the village and the valleys below! Ah, the old village of Lauris, it is good to get lost in its alleys to discover its church with its carved bell tower, its old wash houses, and the old houses decorated with stones polished by time. To complete your visit, take the time to pass by the rue de la Tour to discover old geminated windows, discover the fountain of the church, the ochre coloured houses, the craftsmen's courtyard, the public wash house or the Colonel's House, also located near the building.

If the village is incredibly calm and welcoming, it remains no less dynamic by offering its visitors a whole range of activities, according to their desires. Food lovers will not miss the Monday morning market to stock up on wheat flour, olive oil and local asparagus, or a fishing trip to taste the fish of the Durance, while sportsmen will not know where to turn as there are so many activities here. Tennis, horse riding, petanque, but also skateboarding, walks on the health course of the Roquefraîche wood (1.8 km), mountain biking and other walks along the Durance, in the direction of the Cedar Forest of the Luberon, Mallemort, Gordes, Roussillon, Pertuis, the fortress of Oppède, Puget, Salon-de-Provence or Cavaillon known for its famous melon will punctuate your stay. In addition, numerous events are organised throughout the year: antiques fair at Pentecost, Candlemas and wine fairs, lyrical concerts in summer, summer festivities and other events will allow you to immerse yourself in the heart of local traditions.
