In the heart of the Vaucluse, the small village of Piolenc has all the assets of these cities of Provence that we love so much. Blending tradition, culture and nature to perfection, it is the perfect holiday resort to allow you to discover all the most beautiful faces of the region with your family or as a lover.

Watered by the meanders of the Rhone, Piolenc takes place just north of the magnificent city of Orange. Occupied since Prehistory, the town developed during the Middle Ages before suffering the torments of the Wars of Religion during the reign of Charles IX. Particularly appreciated for its authenticity and its gentle way of life, Piolenc does not fail to turn hearts upside down. To discover its history, take the time to visit its historic heart on foot; there, all the richness of its architectural heritage will be offered to you. Start with a tour of the church of Saint-Pierre, an 11th century Cluniac monument that is not lacking in interest, before continuing your visit in the direction of the Chapel of the Penitents. Pass through the Place Saint-Pierre to see the Town Hall and its common oven, take the montée and the Rue Abbé d'Hugues to see the old priory castle and the Chapelle des Pénitents, then go through the passage Estrangladou, the Acampado, the Portail Neuf, the passage du Soustet, the Place de l'Ormeau, the Cours des Marronniers and the Rue de la Cure. On your way, wash houses, calvaries, oratories (such as the oratory Notre-Dame de Bon Rencontre) and fountains will punctuate your visit, as many ancient sites that set the scene for this very old village. The castle of Crochant listed in the inventory of historical monuments is worth seeing: a splendid building built during the first half of the 18th century, it has a large landscaped park particularly pleasant. Property of the Gruss family, it can be visited during circus training courses organized by the family. The Alexis Gruss Park is also a must: an opportunity for you to discover the fascinating history of this family of circus performers thanks to a museum that offers many activities around the theme of the circus.

During the summer, you may be able to attend the Piolenc Garlic Festival: a local star produced in large quantities, garlic can be tasted in all its forms. The high point of the celebrations, the giant aioli open to all promises to plunge you into the heart of local culinary traditions, to the delight of young and old alike!

Numerous hiking trails will allow you to discover Piolenc, through its town but also along the banks of the Rhône and via its forest routes, to allow you to discover all the splendour of its natural heritage. The Dou Paty forest on the Uchaux massif planted with Aleppo pines, Scots pines, maritime pines, but also oaks and junipers will also allow you to discover all the richness of the scrubland and maquis, planted with strawberry trees, heather and rockrose. Untiringly, your walks will lead you to the Li Piboulo lake: a large 75-hectare pond in the middle of forests, with footpaths, but also a beach from which you can swim (supervised swimming in summer), but also fish.

Finally, staying in Piolenc also means giving yourself the opportunity to discover some of the region's star destinations: Orange, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Uzès, Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, but also Vaison-la-Romaine, Carpentras and Avignon (30 minutes away) and the Alpilles Regional Nature Park will have no more secrets for you!
