On the magnificent Côte de Lumière, in the Vendée, Notre-Dame-de-Monts is one of the leading seaside resorts on the coast. Blending charm and authenticity, this family destination above all is the perfect place for a holiday under the Vendée sun.
What makes people come to Notre-Dame-de-Monts on holiday? Its family atmosphere, and its small seaside village side. Renowned for being one of the most flowery seaside resorts in the whole of the Vendée, Notre-Dame-de-Monts assumes its quiet character, and its activities are always centred around the same theme: the family. Here, although the car is allowed, one walks or bikes are more popular, a local star and a must for all holidaymakers. To make visits easier, the town has many footpaths and cycle paths so that the whole family can discover the town centre and the coast. This dynamic and attractive town centre, where souvenir shops, small shops and other restaurants flourish, is separated from the beaches by a vast dune strip, as well as by the pine forest of the Pays de Monts, offering walkers and cyclists alike countless possibilities for sporting or contemplative outings as they wish. Most of the town's beaches are also served by an extensive network of cycle paths (more than 60 kilometres, also accessible to horse riders), which also link up with those of the neighbouring seaside resorts of La Barre-de-Monts (to the north) and Saint-Jean-de-Monts (further south).
On the sea side, Notre-Dame-de-Monts has a 4.5-kilometre long coastline... So much so that you'll have plenty of choice when it comes to planting your parasol! Bordered by gently sloping dunes (which are also ideal for short strolls in the setting sun or for sporting excursions), these long sandy beaches are perfect for lazing around in the sun or for swimming. Several beaches are supervised such as the Braie beach, the Murier beach and the central beach. The latter, particularly well equipped, is very popular with families, who will find entertainment for the youngest, a straw hut on the sand, as well as bathing cabins. From the nautical pole of this beach, there are many water activities that you can practice according to your desires: sand yachting, stand up paddle, sea kayaking, but also sailing, fishing on foot on the Pont d'Yeu, along the coast or catamaran between the Ile d'Yeu and Noirmoutier (among others!) will satisfy the aficionados of sea gliding. Finally, if there is one site that we highly recommend you to visit, it is the Kulmino: a rather unusual water tower, it offers from its platform perched 70 metres high a breathtaking panorama of the dunes, the Marais, the forest, the beaches, the islands, Notre-Dame-de-Monts and the nearby seaside resorts... A visit that will, in short, be the icing on the cake of your stay!
