In the centre of the province, the city of Siena is one of the highlights of any stay in Tuscany. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its historic centre is a veritable open-air museum. Walking along its pretty medieval streets, you can admire the cathedral (Duomo di Siena), the San Domenico basilica, the Gaia Fountain, the Loggia della Mercanzia... Then visit the city's many museums such as the Museo Civico, housed in the superb Palazzo Publico, or the national art gallery.
