The "new village" of Poblenou is an old industrial district full of contrasts located in the city of Barcelona. You will appreciate its air of small village in the heart of the big city. The neighborhood even has its own rambla : this long pedestrian street is the main artery of the neighborhood, a pleasant place, dotted with benches and trees where it is good to walk. Many small bars have opened their doors, an opportunity for holidaymakers to savour sangria and tapas, typical dishes of the region.

It is between land and sea that the inhabitants of the different classes live together in the Poblenou district.

The old fishermen's or workers' houses as well as the textile warehouses have given way today to fashionable hotels with sea views, converted loft houses, artists' studios or commercial offices.

The area is right next to the beach, especially Mar Bella. Its completely restored waterfront, promenade, skatepark and sports complex make it a pleasant place at all times of the year.

You will have the opportunity to enjoy the many parks in the area, including the central park of Poblenou, designed by Jean Nouvel and inaugurated in 2008. Pretty wall of flowers, dense vegetation, central square and games for children make it the meeting point fetish of the inhabitants of this district which was renovated on the occasion of the 1992 Olympic Games.

During your walks, you will not want to miss the Agbar Tower : this 21st century skyscraper, also designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, is 142 metres high. As majestic by day as by night thanks to its colours and its lights, this tower is one of the most impressive buildings in Barcelona.

Those who come to Barcelona to celebrate will not be disappointed since many celebrations are organized throughout the year. In September in particular, the mayor festival of the Poblenou district takes place : the ideal opportunity for holidaymakers to discover Catalan traditions. On the program, Sardana dance, human pyramids called Castellers, giant parades and correfoc, a parade of dancers disguised as demons who walk the streets dancing, equipped with flaming sticks and dragon sculptures : total immersion in the traditions of the region !
