Poble-sec is a residential area of Barcelona where life is good. Located at the foot of the Montjuïc mountain, it was originally composed of gardens and workers' lodgings that participated in the construction of the Montjuïc Park.

Halfway between the great avenue of the Parallel and the port of Barcelona, it keeps its popular footprint and its reputation as a quiet place to rest after a long day of visits.

The Avenue du Parallèle is one of the main arteries of the city : thanks to it, it is easy to reach the main port of Barcelona. It is there that cruise ships dock while others set sail for the Balearic Islands or Ibiza in particular.

Take a walk along the Carrer de Blai : it is a paradise for local gastronomy. You can enjoy tapas and pintxos, especially at El Senorito. In the street, bars, terraces and restaurants accumulate by the dozen and all offer a large number of local dishes. Paella lovers, don't miss the restaurant El Elche ! The district is also very lively when the festivals of Poble-sec come in July. During ten days, the activities are multiple : concerts, markets, street theatre and of course, demonstration of traditional Catalan dance.

This multicultural neighbourhood will please families and night owls alike. For a break away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the ideal is to sit down for a few moments in the Laribal gardens. Designed for the Barcelona International Exhibition in 1929, these gardens are spread over several levels, connected by stairs and small paths. Pergolas, waterfalls and sculptures mingle with plants and trees.

Do not miss the visit of the Joan Miro Foundation : in this quiet and peaceful place, you can admire all the work of the Catalan artist, his paintings, sculptures and tapestries. Holidaymakers looking for entertainment will love the El Molino café-theatre or the Apolo concert hall.

Music lovers, finally know that the park of the three chimneys regularly offers improvised concerts, especially during the festival of San Juan which takes place in June.

Also not to be missed is the great international theatre festival that takes place in the Greek theatre of the city of Barcelona : also built in 1929 for the international exhibition, this theatre has become an emblematic place of the city.
