Pass by the Plaça Major to see its church, renowned for its beautiful Gothic facade: after climbing its 42 steps, you can take a closer look at the church before admiring its beautiful 17th-century interior decorations, including the Cross of Valella. As you wander through the cobbled streets and colourful old houses, the whole atmosphere of Selva will be revealed to you. A must to do in the Plaça Major? Attend the weekly village market! Every Wednesday, fruit, vegetables and flowers fill the stalls with their delicate scents. This is also the perfect occasion to sample the flavours of Mallorcan cuisine. An island of a thousand flavours, Mallorca is renowned for its gastronomy, oh so gourmet! Impossible to miss THE star pastry shop on the island, the ensaimada, plain or topped with chocolate for ever more gourmet delights. You might also annoy the purists by not tasting the sobrassada: with its looks of a big, slightly orange sausage, this delicate delicatessen made with pork, herbs and paprika is a real delight. Apart from its terribly warm side, Selva is the perfect place to put down your suitcases and set off to discover all the most beautiful corners of Majorca. Hiking enthusiasts? The Hostageria del Castell d'Alaro and the Puig Majorse are about thirty minutes from Selva: take advantage of this opportunity to try your hand at trekking or mountain biking.
