On the southwest coast of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Guia de Isora belongs to the province of Santa Cruz. A picturesque destination, it has everything to please holidaymakers looking for tranquility and a holiday in the sun.

Cultural, Guia de Isora will surprise you with the beauty of its historical buildings. Its historic centre was declared a "Property of Cultural Interest" in 2009, attracting the curiosity of a few tourists in love with the heritage each year. Its 18th century rural architecture surprises at first sight before fascinating with its colours and details. Some buildings stand out from this traditional architecture, such as the church of Nuestra Senora de la Luz in particular. The latter is one of its most beautiful nuggets: built during the 16th century in the historic centre of the town, this church, recognizable by its white colour, is typical of Canary Islands buildings of the time. With its wooden roof and ashlar floor, it houses many paintings, altarpieces and images, giving it great artistic importance. Through the winding streets of the village, via Calle de La Vera and Calle Tagoro, from 19th century religious buildings to wealthy houses, you will discover everything that makes this extraordinary destination so charming. Gourmets will not be able to miss the Isora confectionery without pushing its door: considered one of the oldest shops in the city, this traditional confectionery is one of the "must" of Guia de Isora.

But Guia de Isora also enjoys a very strong natural heritage, thanks to the presence of the Tejina mountain to the north of the city: from the most unobstructed places in the municipality, you can admire splendid views of the Pico Viejo and the coast of Guia de Isora. For beautiful sporting excursions, do not hesitate to climb to the hamlets of Chirche and Aripe, located on the heights of the historic centre: made up of old Canary Islands houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, these sites with a strong historical capital are worth a visit, especially for the magnificent panoramas they offer on volcanic lands and on the open sea.

The sea: this is obviously Guia de Isora's main asset. To discover it, first take the time to stroll around the fishing district of Playa San Juan, both peaceful and exotic. Also take advantage of its 2 km long promenade to contemplate the beauty of the Canary Islands coast: lined with palm trees, this boulevard is dotted with numerous cabins, chiringuitos and cafés, to allow you a refreshing break by the sea. The resort has a second promenade, linking Alcala beach to La Jaquita beach for beautiful views of the coast. Ideal for watching sunsets, jogging or enjoying ice cream, this walk is very popular with holidaymakers during the summer. As for idleness, San Juan beach is perfect for moments of relaxation: sheltered from the wind thanks to its breakwater and its proximity to the port, it will be perfect for family swimming afternoons. Alcala's black sandy cove is better known to water sports enthusiasts, while Abama's wonderful cove facing the island of La Gomera will make lovers of beautiful sunsets succumb thanks to its postcard setting. Lovers of tranquility? Head for Mendez Beach: protected from the waves by a large flow of volcanic rock, this pebble beach will suit readers who love small secret places to read far from the crowds in the city centre. The long beach of Punta Blanca will finally attract water sports enthusiasts thanks to its waves well known to surfers: considered one of the best spots in Tenerife for sliding sports, you can sail, kiteboard, paddle and surf.
