The sun, as if it were raining... That's what you can expect from a stay at Le Cannet. Located in the Alpes-Maritimes, this charming city has been attracting artists and visitors to Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur for many years, both for its relaxing setting and its splendid landscapes.

Two short kilometres from the beaches and ports of Cannes, in the middle of seven wooded hills, the town of Le Cannet offers its visitors incredible panoramic views of the bay of Cannes, the Lérins Islands and the Esterel massif. Formerly called "Olivetum" by the Romans because of its important olive tree cultivation, Le Cannet unfolds its charms to curious holidaymakers and lovers of beautiful heritage. Nicknamed the "Madeira of France", the commune of Le Cannet reveals an authentic and typically Provençal heritage, made up of beautiful residences with ochre facades, and winding and steep alleys, dotted with magnificent villas by artists dating from the Belle Époque. Villa Bosquet avenue Victoria is one of the most famous of the Cannet, bought by the painter Pierre Bonnard, as is Villa Printemps (boulevard Gambetta), owned by Auguste Renoir. Auguste Tavel's Villa Roc Tavel, Ferdinand Bac's Villa des Néfliers, Maurice Thorez's Olive Garden and Georgette Leblanc's Chalet Rose are among the most elegant houses in Le Cannet. Stroll through the streets of Le Vieux Cannet to take the pulse of this inspiring city, so warm and authentic; go through rue Cavasse, the magnificent Jardin de Tivoli, then take the rue de Cannes to admire the Tour des Danys, a remarkable work of art that the city owes to the monks of Lérins. The oldest construction of the Cannet, built during the 16th century, it was once used to close off the city's entrance and to monitor it, thanks to its defensive roof adorned with machicolations. Then visit the Sainte-Catherine church and the Saint-Bernardin chapel, the Saint-Sauveur chapel recognizable by its colourful ornaments, then head for the rue des Près to discover the Tour des Calvys and the Sainte-Philomène church, renowned for its baroque jewels. Rue Saint-Sauveur will then lead you to the Mur des Amoureux de Peynet, then to Place Bellevue, which will offer you a magnificent view of the Grande Bleue. The Place des Paramideaux and its building houses, the rue des Voûtes and the former town hall complete your list of visits.

Looking for nature? Walk in the footsteps of Victorien Sardou, Henri Lebasque or Prosper Mérimée as you stroll along the Canal de la Siagne. This short hike of about 1h30 will take you through the Provençal vegetation and finally lead you to the Promontoire des Chirchourliers, which from its heights offers an unobstructed view of the whole bay of Cannes, but also of Grasse and the neighbouring hills of Mougins. Finally, it is impossible to stay at Le Cannet without going to the seaside. From the splendid beaches of Cannes, Mandelieu-la-Napoule or Juan-les-Pins, you can relax under the Mediterranean sun, but also practice a wide range of water sports, from surfing to bodyboarding, including sea outings, scuba diving, sailing, kitesurfing or jet skiing.
