Grignan is located south-east of Montélimar, just next to the Enclave des Papes. In the Drôme department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Grignan is a real gem. Just imagine: a perched village, surrounded by dense vegetation, fields and lavender as far as the eye can see... THE perfect postcard for a vacation in Provence! Rich in a very ancient history which merges with that of its majestic castle, Grignan and its castral village are mentioned as early as 1105. In the heart of the Tricastain plain, this medieval village built on a small hill with a crazy charm reveals to its visitors crazy panoramas on the neighboring plains planted with holm oaks, broom, boxwood, scrubland and fragrant lavender whose bouquets adorn the tables of the restaurants. From the heights of the village, on the terraces of the Château de Grignan, you will be able to contemplate the mountain of the Series, the Mont-Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail, the Saint-Amand ridge or the mountains of Nyons, the Baronnies and the Rhône. The Château de Grignan, enthroned at the top of its rocky promontory, dominates the plains and the mountains from its perch. A former fortress transformed into a Renaissance residence, it now delights visitors with the beauty of its terraces, its rooms and its elegant architecture. On the list of things to see, don't miss the remains of the medieval castrum of the Adhemar family, the communal oven, the Saint-Vincent de Grignan chapel in Romanesque style, but also the splendid Porte fortifiée du Tricot, the Maison de la Justice...
