Trois-Rivières, or in Guadeloupean Creole "Twarivyè", is one of those pearls of which Guadeloupe has the secret. Spread over a little more than 31 square kilometers in total, the commune is located at the very south of the island of Basse-Terre, and is surrounded by the cities of Vieux-Fort, Gourbeyre and Capesterre-Belle-Eau. Gathering many hamlets scattered on the slope of its mountain, Trois-Rivières reveals magnificent small houses surrounded by a luxuriant vegetation, houses which go down towards the sea and offer to contemplate panoramas of postcard. The name Trois-Rivières comes from the presence of three rivers on its territory: the Petit Cabret River, the Grande Anse River and the Trou au Chien River. Here, it is a hiker's paradise because of the varied relief of the territory: from the beaches to the summit of La Citerne (1155 meters of altitude), passing by the first foothills of La Soufrière, here, the ideas of sporting or contemplative outings are numerous, and everyone will find his happiness! On the land of Trois-Rivières, you can also discover the Banana River: 7.3 kilometers long, it takes its source at Morne Boudoute, in the heart of the Soufrière massif, and offers a magnificent setting for walks to discover the beauty of Trois-Rivières.

In terms of cultural and architectural heritage, many sites are to be scribbled down on your vacation "to-do list". The Archaeological Park of the Roches Gravées and its Amerindian vestiges, but also the coastal path of the Grande Pointe (which will make you discover Amerindian and military vestiges), the Maison de la Banane, the roucou mill, the pottery kilns, the old gendarmerie, the lighthouse on the seaside, the church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, the Musée de la Graine, the beautiful chapel of the Immaculate Conception or the villa Pastorale, the Belleville house and the Ermitage house, both classified as historical monuments, will give you a good overview of the local heritage.

In the heart of a fertile and very agricultural environment, Trois-Rivières reveals a small pleasant port where it is good to stroll to the discovery of old colored creole huts which give the tone of these vacations under the sun. From the port, you can also embark on a sea excursion to Les Saintes, a must for an authentic trip, where hiking, diving and snorkeling will be on the agenda!
