It is in the south-west of Basse-Terre, in Guadeloupe, that the commune of Vieux-Habitants is located. Founded in the 17th century, it is, as its name indicates, the oldest commune in Guadeloupe! Rich of a very ancient history, its origins go back to remote times, as attested by the prehistoric site of Roches Gravées du Plessis. In the heart of the river, this site gathers near a waterfall 19 splendid engraved rocks, actual witnesses of populations settled in Vieux-Habitants centuries ago. Moreover, the Soufrière is located only a few blocks from the village, you can enjoy routes leading you to it, for magnificent walks in the heart of authentic Guadeloupe.
