In the department of Landes, in the New Aquitaine region, the commune of Vert resolutely bears its name well. Perfect destination for stays "in the green", it will delight lovers of nature, authenticity and tranquility. Let's go !

Housed in the magnificent setting of the Landes forest, in the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park, Vert is watered by numerous rivers such as the Estrigon, the Bernon, or the Geloux. A quiet destination far from the traditional tourist routes, it is home to an interesting heritage that you can discover at your leisure during your outings, whether on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. You can therefore take the time to contemplate the church of Saint-Vincent: built in the 12th century, in a Romanesque style, it also has Gothic parts, added during the 14th and 15th centuries, which give it a certain charm, unique of its kind. The wash house on the Bernin, the communal bread oven and the astonishing Camera d'Arnaudin built in wood on the Baillon moor (7 kilometres from the heart of the village) will complete the inventory of things to discover in Vert.

The other asset of Vert, in addition to its legendary calm, is to be in the heart of a region rich in sites to visit. By bike, on foot or on horseback, you will find a number of hiking trails, for beginners and experienced riders, which will take you through rolling, green landscapes, farmland that produces the corn, kiwis, beef and ducks that are the pride of the region, and the reputation of its gastronomy. What to see? The Commanderie de Bessaut in Lencouacq (20 minutes away), or the village of Roquefort: founded in 1108 by the Viscount de Marsan, this commune rich in ancient monuments offers its visitors a real plunge into history. Its market, its arenas, its fort and its itineraries on the Way of Saint James (on the way to Vézelay) make it a must see.

Less than 30 minutes away, Mont-de-Marsan is one of the must-see places in the area: a town steeped in history, it is an economic crossroads, but also a destination where life is good. With its medieval heart made of old golden stone houses, its sculptures, its small shops downtown, its landscaped banks and its many restaurants, Mont-de-Marsan is an enchanting parenthesis, ideal for a city and cultural break during your stay in Vert. Also note that only 45 minutes from Vert, the lake of Aureilhan between forest and sea will be ideal for a relaxing break and the practice of nautical activities under the Landes sun. Dax l'élégante, 50 minutes away, will delight lovers of thermal baths when, finally, a little less than an hour from Vert, the beaches of Mimizan and Contis-les-Bains will be perfect for bubbling in complete tranquillity, or for swimming, and introducing you to surfing or paddle. All of which will make your stay in the Landes perfect!
