About 20 kilometers from Villeneuve-sur-Lot, on the border of the Lot department, Fumel is located in the Lot-et-Garonne department. A few steps from the Dordogne river, Fumel is a real invitation to stroll. On its hiking trails, you will discover its castles, its mills, its bastides and neighboring villages, but also its charm and its unusual character. Take the time to lose yourself along the banks of the Lot to capture the intensity of the beauty of the nature that surrounds the town. What to see on the built side ? The Castle of Fumel ! Today it houses the town hall and is worth a visit for its wonderful garden with a panoramic view of the Lot below, a must-see! With its huge park and its green theater, this renowned site has been classified as a Historic Monument since February 16, 1951. In addition to this castle, there is the unavoidable Château de Bonaguil: a former 13th century fortified castle, located in the neighboring town of Saint-Front-sur-Lémance, it is however the property of Fumel. Also classified, this building on the border of the Agenais and Quercy regions is a real 13th century nugget that is worth a visit, perched at the top of its limestone spur. Back in the village of Fumel, don't miss the old metallurgical factory, the church of Saint-Hippolyte de Condat, the tower of Caraillé, or the church of Saint-Antoine. The old town hall, the Élisabeth-Desarnauts hospital, and the beautiful houses that adorn the town will not fail to fascinate you with the architecture of the region.

In addition to these cultural discoveries, there is also a particularly generous nature that will delight lovers of quiet breaks in the countryside. On the banks of the Lot, or even on the Lot in a canoe or kayak, by bike on the old railway, in the direction of Condat on the Voie Verte linking Fumel to Cahors, or even in the direction of the neighboring castles of Puycalvary, Biron, and La Coste...
