In the department of Lot-et-Garonne, in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Monségur is a quiet little corner where nature and history lovers love to get lost. In Guyenne, on a small hill overlooking the wonderful Lot Valley, Monségur is a little Eden of tranquility. Our advice? Climb to the top of the village, on its heights, to discover magnificent panoramas on the agricultural lands of the Pays du Dropt, but also on the hills of the Haut-Agenais and the hillsides of the Pays de Serres! These places are crisscrossed by numerous hiking trails that will allow you to appreciate the charms of the valleys of the Lot-et-Garonne countryside, where the landscapes change with the seasons to reveal a wide range of colors and smells!

The village of Monségur has beautiful houses as well as a church to discover, the church of Notre-Dame de Monségur. And as far as heritage is concerned, that's about it! A small village of barely 400 souls, Monségur is a quiet and intimate destination, far from the traditional tourist itineraries but well enough located to allow you to discover some of the nuggets of the Lot Valley. What to see? In the area, many sites are accessible on foot, by bicycle or by car, depending on your desires. The meandering Lot is perfect for sunny walks in the cool of the river, but you can also go to the Lac du Marou for a picnic by the pond, or go fishing if you feel like it! 27 kilometers further south, in the Quercy region, Montaigu plage is a must for family bathing! In the heart of a 40-hectare oak forest, you can have lunch with your feet in the water, go pedal boating, canoeing, kayaking, towed buoys, kayak yoga, but also jet-skiing, flyboarding or even zip-lining!

If you prefer historical discoveries to sports activities, note that Monségur is located in the heart of a region known for its castles and historical bastides. The Castle of Bonaguil, the Castle of Fumel, the Castle of Ferrières, those of Biron or Gavaudun are among the most prized in the area, which we highly recommend you visit! Especially that of Bonaguil: jewel of medieval architecture, between Périgord and Quercy, it is without question one of the most beautiful castles in France! The GAP 47 Astronomical Observatory, but also the bastide of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and its golf course, or Villefranche-du-Périgord will complete the inventory of sites to discover during this stay in Monségur!
