Lys-Haut-Layon is a link between the bocage and the vineyards. It was born from the union of seven communes of the Vihiersois-Haut-Layon territory. Lys-Haut-Layon is a small and discreet village, little known by vacationers, but its history goes back to ancient times, as evidenced by traces of human habitation found on site, dating back to prehistoric times. Developed largely during the 19th century thanks to the arrival of the railroad, the commune is reputed to shelter a pretty heritage which deserves that one lingers there. And hang on, the territory being large, the list of visits is long! The Sainte-Anne chapel in Tigné, the Grand-Riou castle, the Coudray-Montbaul castle from the 16th century in Vihiers, or the Maupassant hospice are worth seeing. Don't forget to stroll through the streets of Cerqueux-sous-Passavant to discover the Brétignole castle, old farms, mills, or to visit the village of La Fosse-de-Tigné, famous for its dense heritage.
