Built by the architect Michel Bezançon, this winter sports resort was inaugurated in 1981 on a renowned ski area in Savoy. Despite its recent creation, Les Coches looks like two drops of water to a real Savoyard village with its roofs In lauzes and its dark wooden houses, its convivial atmosphere as well as its special family services have earned it the label "Famille Plus", initiation to winter sports for children, activities, daycare for toddlers... Everything is done to facilitate your holidays in this charming Savoyard station.
Located on the famous ski area of La Plagne, it shares its resort with the village of Montchavin, making it one of the largest resorts in the area. More than 170 kilometers of slopes suitable for beginners and advanced skiers, six snowparks, several kilometers of trails for hikers... Behind its peaceful airs, this small village hides a real modern resort that easily rivals its big sisters. Moreover, its membership in the Vanoise Express, a network of huge cable cars inter-stations, offers holidaymakers privileged access to all the slopes of the ski area.
Numerous activities await you outside the ski slopes to fully enjoy the advantages of the mountain ! Go to the ice skating rink to swim on the ice or to the tobogganing area to go down the slopes with your family. Discover the Savoyard landscapes with experienced mountain guides who will unveil all their secrets. On the territory of the Coches or in the surroundings, on snowshoes or on foot, the itineraries are numerous and for all tastes.
La Savoie is also good food that warm the most greedy after a long day of winter sports. Enjoy your stay to discover a disguised dish of the holiday makers : the matafan (or "matefaim") Savoyard ! These were originally potato pancakes that allowed the peasants who worked in the fields to keep up the meal despite their hard work. Today they are found in the form of thick, salty pancakes often made from flour, potatoes, eggs and water. They accompany divinely various regional dishes.
If you are already a great lover of Savoyard gastronomy, no worries, the Coches still has something to impress you ! For a drink with a good plate of cold meats or to devour real dishes of the corner, La Poya is the rendezvous prized of the initiates. This friendly restaurant in the mountain setting will pack you (especially : its Savoyard fondue which is unanimous !). Small bonus : the small glass of genépi, local liquor, often offered at the end of the meal to finish well this feast (to taste, as it should, in moderation).
