In the dictionary, Pernes-les-Fontaines could undoubtedly be added to the definition of charm. A small village in Provence, particularly appreciated for the finesse and elegance of its architecture, it amazes holidaymakers who love old stones and a marked heritage.

The village of Pernes-les-Fontaines is located at the foot of Mont Ventoux, leaning against the Monts de Vaucluse. Nicknamed the "Pearl of the Comtat", this small town takes its name from the many, very many fountains that decorate its territory. Pernes-les-Fontaines counts more than 40 in total, of various styles and shapes, which will not fail to arouse the interest of the most curious. Sometimes discreet, sometimes stocky, decorated or sculpted, whether they are called "Fontaine du Gigot" or "du Cormoran", the fountains water and enliven the town with their perpetual lapping. The gardens, the shaded calade alleys, the wooded squares and the surrounding valleys adorned with vineyards and flowering orchards are enough to turn the heads of holidaymakers curious to taste the legendary charm of Provence. Here, life is good! Take the time to stroll in the heart of its old quarter to discover its thick ramparts, flanked by well-preserved gates and towers, which bear witness to the village's ancient development. The Porte Notre-Dame in particular, does not fail to question visitors with its two towers and its original architecture. In the village, no less than 22 monuments are classified and/or listed as Historic Monuments. Passing through its wide fortified gates, you can admire 14 absolutely splendid mansions, but also chapels and a Romanesque church. Visit the Ferrande Tower which houses many 13th century frescoes, but also the chapel of the White Penitents, the keep, the ruins of the former castle of the Counts of Toulouse, the 17th century covered market, go through the Cloth Shop to discover the astonishing beauty of the Comtadins costumes, without forgetting to make a short stop at the Fléchier house to let you tell the stories of local traditions in the heart of a wonderful 17th century mansion. Climb to the top of the Clock Tower to finally discover a breathtaking panorama of the Comtat plain below, with the slopes of Mont Ventoux in the background.

Marked by the beauty of a rich heritage, the town of Pernes-les-Fontaines is also marked by its traditions. Throughout the year, the village comes alive to the delight of visitors passing through its walls. Evenings dedicated to folk music and dance in July, street theatre evenings, markets, local festivities, but also concerts and other festivals will certainly punctuate your holiday. Hikers and cyclists will find their happiness here, as the town is dotted with numerous footpaths, which will take you through the countryside towards Carpentras (6 kilometres away) and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (11 kilometres away). Fishing, tennis, horse riding, pedal boats, paddle boats and kayaks at Lake Monteux (10 minutes away), but also golf (at Saumane), visits to the Thouzon Caves, swimming and canoeing on the Sorgue River (15 minutes away) will complete your stay in Pernes-les-Fontaines.
