Between the marvellous Vaucluse plateau and the emblematic Mont Ventoux, Mormoiron is an authentic village, a true masterpiece as Provence has the secret. Cultural and dynamic, this little corner of paradise will transport you through the history of the Vaucluse.

About twenty kilometres from Carpentras and the Luberon Regional Natural Park, Mormoiron makes its mark on its visitors thanks to its strong identity. What makes its character is undeniably its architecture. Perched on its hill surrounded by vineyards, the village is rich in a great architectural heritage, which you can discover by strolling through its tortuous alleys. In the course of its alleys planted with plane trees and its "soustets", name given to its covered passages, it is all the magnificence of this village of Provence which will offer itself to you. Here, the beautiful houses in height rub shoulders in a certain harmony with dozens of fountains and old washhouses, between which are hidden listed buildings. From the old hospital to the Saint-Laurent church, passing by the splendid 16th century Notre-Dame-des-Anges chapel, it's impossible not to come across some vestiges of the Middle Ages on your way, like watchtowers that have sprouted up here and there in the town. For a cultural and historical interlude, head for the Archaeological and Paleontological Museum, which will take you back 600 million years, to discover the first steps of man thanks to the remains of pottery, fossils and other stones found around the town of Mormoiron.

Mormoiron's ochre-coloured decor is also perfect for nature and outdoor activity lovers who will be able to enjoy a whole range of activities. Star of holidays in Provence, hiking is certainly the most popular sport in Mormoiron. Also, thanks to a vast network of signposted trails suitable for professional walkers as well as families and beginners, you will be able to discover all the beauty of this Vaucluse village. Whether on foot or by mountain bike, you can easily reach the lake of Les Salettes, loved by families who come here to spend a day in the sun. Its beach, which is supervised during the summer, is perfect for bubbling, sunbathing, building sand castles, but also for beach volleyball and petanque games with friends in the shade of the fragrant pine trees. If swimming is possible, you can also fish, picnic or hike around it.

Finally, how can you evoke Mormoiron without talking about gastronomy! Here, asparagus is queen, just like grapes. Also, wine lovers will be spoilt for choice in their wine tastings, from red to rosé through the white AOP Ventoux, all accompanied by seasonal fruit and vegetables, nougat, honey, cheeses and small dishes that smell good in Provence, such as one-eyed bouillabaisse, bohemian, artichoke à la barigoule, Provençal quail, daube, fougasse and crespeou... So many succulent dishes that will delight young and old alike!
