Consisting of three municipalities that are Ricey-Bas, Ricey-Haute-Rive and Ricey-Haut, Les Riceys is the town that has the largest wine-growing area in the Champagne region. In the valley of the Laigne, in the department of Aube, it is about fifty kilometers from Troyes that Les Riceys flourishes. Emblematic city of the region Grand Est, it dates from the Gallo-Roman era and has continued to develop since then, especially thanks to local star: Champagne. Renowned for its wine production, the town of Les Riceys has three AOCs for its champagne, its Champagne hillsides and its Riceys rosé, a wine that was very popular at the time of Louis XIV. A stay in Les Riceys is therefore a gourmet interlude, suspended, where the sweetness of life and gastronomy complete the decor. Lovers of old stones will have the opportunity to admire its rich architectural heritage, consisting of a large number of charming buildings. Les Riceys is made up of three villages and has three Renaissance churches, including the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and the church of Saint-Vincent, which we advise you to visit for the beauty of their decorations. But the visit does not stop there since Les Riceys has many splendid houses and other castles which make its reputation. The Castle of Ricey-Bas is to be seen: built in the 15th century on the vestiges of an old fortified house of the 11th century, this castle (private) is surrounded by a vast park and crossed by the meanders of the Laigne. Not far away, the Château de Saint-Louis, on the eponymous island, is also worth a visit, as is the Sainte-Sabine de Ricey-Bas chapel.

In addition to a charming architectural heritage, Les Riceys is pure nature. With more than 866 hectares of vineyards as far as the eye can see, it is the ideal place for a hike in the coolness of the vines, or for a sportive bike ride on the hilly reliefs, the woods, the plateaus and the banks of the rivers that water the valleys surrounding Les Riceys and the Côte des Bars. Our favourite route ? The circuit "Between vineyards and cadoles" which will lead you through vineyards classified as World Heritage by UNESCO and woods, to discover the cadoles, very old shelters of wine growers made of dry stones piled up one on the other. Mountain bike enthusiasts can enjoy three routes: "Ricey Village", "Ricey Côteaux" and "Ricey Forêt". Excursions through the Regional Natural Park of the Forêt d'Orient, visits to Troyes and strolls along the Seine, which flows just a few steps from the town, will complete this stay in the Aube.
