In the heart of the Périgord Noir, in an area known for the richness of its terroir and heritage, Loubejac is located in the Dordogne department. Nature, culture and history make this little corner of France a real paradise for lovers of green holidays.

Sticking to Villefranche-du-Périgord, Loubejac, the southernmost town of the Dordogne, is one of those quiet destinations far, far away from the great tourist routes. Peaceful, perfect for restful breaks in the countryside, Loubejac sees its origins going back to the time of Prehistory. Its history, it translates today in the ancient stones which constitute its heritage. Its Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens church, half Romanesque (12th century), half Gothic (15th century), is a must see: registered on the list of Historic Monuments since 1948, it is worth a look both for its original architecture and its interior decorations. The commune also houses some very beautiful residences, such as the old 13th century Sermet castle, built by Templars. The main attraction of Loubejac is its market: every Thursday, during the summer, the night market of local producers gathers a large number of regulars and curious people, eager to taste the flavours of the local gastronomy. A land of gourmet delights par excellence, the Périgord Noir has a wide range of delicacies. On the menu? Truffles, strawberries, foie gras, walnuts and porcini mushrooms of course are a must, as are Bergerac wines, sturgeon, jams, and cheeses such as Cabécou and Trappe d'Échourgnac. As for the dishes in most of the restaurants in the village, you can enjoy duck confit, garlic tourin, Perigord salads, omelettes with truffles, delicious monkfish with chorizo, walnut tarts, eggs cooked in Perigord, marzipan, potatoes with duck fat, foie gras terrines and duck breasts flambéed with cognac, to delight the most delicate taste buds.

But to stay in Loubejac is above all to give yourself the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful destinations in France, such as Villefranche-du-Périgord and Puy-l'Évêque. Villefranche du Périgord, a medieval bastide town, will amaze you with the beauty of its architecture and its numerous hiking trails that will allow you to visit the town and the surrounding villages. The medieval village of Puy-l'Évêque, perched on its rocky promontory overlooking the Lot (15 kilometres from Loubejac), will delight lovers of history and beautiful stones. In addition to quiet walks and historical visits, you can go canoeing, kayaking or rafting, for superb sporting excursions on the peaceful meanders of the Lot.
