The beautiful village of Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet is located 10 kilometers from Sarlat. In the Dordogne department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, this small and quiet village of the Périgord Noir is absolutely perfect for a relaxing vacation. Reunited in 1825, the two parishes of Saint-Crépin and Carlucet form today a small and dynamic commune of only 537 inhabitants.
As far as heritage is concerned, you will discover how good it is to stroll along the old streets that dot the town. You will be able to discover the magnificent Château du Cipières (or Château de Lacypierre), dating from the 15th and 16th centuries: open to the public, this castle of the Sarlat style recognizable by its two square towers topped with pointed roofs covered with slate tiles has been listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments since 1946, and is worth a visit for its sets which were used in the filming of Ridley Scott's Duelists. To the list of sites not to be missed, we can add the church of Saint-Crépin and the church of Sainte-Marie-et-Sainte-Anne, both listed, as well as the house called "Les Granges", listed for the beauty of its ancient facades and roofs.
In addition to a remarkable architectural heritage, the commune of Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet is distinguished by the splendor of its nature. The site of Carlucet is also home to cluzeaux, caves dug and fitted out in the limestone rock, which were used as dwellings during the Middle Ages. If washhouses and fountains are legion in the area, you can also discover during your pedestrian, equestrian or cycling excursions old round dry stone huts, emblematic of the local historical heritage which welcomed shepherds and woodcutters during their work in the woods and fields. Also, in order to allow you to discover Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet, but also the beauty of the Périgord Noir, you will find at the beginning of the village many hiking trails. The "Boucle des Deux Villages" (6,7 kilometers), the "Boucle Terra Aventura" (6,8 kilometers), but also the "Boucle de la Forêt" (11,3 kilometers) will be perfect to allow you not to miss anything of this small corner of paradise.
Looking for adventure? Why not opt for a helicopter flight over the region from the Héliclub du Périgord, located in the town of Eyrissou? Or are you more curious to discover the delights of the local gastronomy? Goose or duck foie gras, black Périgord truffles, ceps, cabécou, strawberries, cheeses and local meats will delight your taste buds! Finally, the Lascaux cave located 20 minutes further north, but also the castles of Sauveboeuf and Puymartin, the Parc du Thot, the Zoological Reserve of Calvias, the Castle of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and the marvelous Sarlat-la-Canéda will complete this stay in the Perigord region.
