In the department of the Dordogne, on the border with the Lot, the small village of Salignac-Eyvigues is 35 kilometres south-west of Brive-la-Gaillarde. In the heart of magnificent lands, this small Perigordian village, renowned for its history and the richness of its heritage, has mountains of treasures for you to discover.

Salignac-Eyvigues is a gourmet land, adored by epicureans and gourmets who enjoy cheeses, foie gras, poultry and stewed meats. Salignac-Eyvigues is one of those peaceful little villages where you love to set down your suitcases. Made of old stones with a hundred shades of ochre, this old village with its warm colours is a tireless invitation to discover its streets full of history. Clinging to its rocky spur, Salignac-Eyvigues proudly boasts manor houses, opulent residences and castles, all of which bear witness to its rich past. If the ramparts of the castle of Salignac have not defended the town for a long time, they still poetically encircle the gardens of this large building, built during the 12th century. If it cannot be visited, the castle still offers magnificent views of the village from the bottom of its ramparts, and is a wonderful postcard of the village. Take the time to have fun in the heart of the town; go through rue Sainte-Croix decorated with small garlands of light to discover the magnificent Place de la Halle which, as its name suggests, has splendid covered market and is surrounded by very beautiful houses, like the noble house of the Croisiers. Dating from the 13th century, recognizable by its 6 arcades and its ogival windows which open the view on a roof of lauzes, this splendid building is considered as one of the most beautiful medieval houses of the department. Push the door of the gothic church of Salignac, famous for its Way of the Cross, go through the wash-house of the place Naudy, the castle of Barbeyroux, the castle of Claux (15th century), but also through the castle of Toulgou, the manor of Eyvignes (16th century), or by the manor of Eybènes, the church of Saint-Rémy, the church of Saint-Loup d'Eybènes (12th century, listed) and the former convent of the 12th century to complete your visit of Salignac-Eyvigues. After discovering the Eyrignac manor house (17th century) and taking the time to stroll in its dazzling gardens, set off to discover the village's surroundings thanks to its many hiking trails. Whether you like to go out in the green or not, whether you like mountain biking, horse riding, go-karting, canoeing or walking, you are sure to find what you are looking for. You will discover in the course of your excursions all the beauty of the Périgord Noir, marked as much by its architectural heritage as by its gastronomic heritage. The historic villages of Montignac (20 kilometres away, home to the Lascaux cave) and Sarlat-la-Canéda are a must, as is Castelnaud-la-Chapelle (30 kilometres away). Souillac and its abbey, Lacave and its caves, Rocamadour and its astonishing heritage (45 kilometres away) will finally complete your stay in Salignac-Eyvigues, for cultural and sporting holidays far from the beaten track.
