In search of a high mountain resort between sport and tradition ? Le Grand-Bornand is for you ! This commune of Haute-Savoie is located on the Massif des Bornes, near the Aravis mountain range. It is divided into two sectors : Le Grand Bornand Village, peaceful with its hundred-year-old chalets and Le Grand Bornand Chinaillon, modern tourist resort very well equipped. Le Grand-Bornand is both a well-preserved cultural heritage and sports activities and fun for the whole family.

The Grand-Bornand attracts in the first place the enthusiasts of skiing ! Its 44 tracks spread over 83 kilometers offer a great diversity to the vacationers. The ski area also has off-piste skiing that will delight skiers looking for adventures. There is also a snowpark that allows you to learn or improve in various skiing disciplines. Half pipe, boardercross and jump lines are waiting for you ! The Grand-Bornand station is also part of the Aravis Massif, linking it with the other resorts of the valley, namely : La Clusaz, Manigod and Saint-Jean-de-Sixt. This large ski area has a total of 210 kilometers of slopes. What more ?

If you are more outdoor sports than winter sports, do not be afraid, the Grand-Bornand remains very dynamic in the summer ! Want to discover the majestic landscapes of the mountains ? Go mountain biking on 75 kilometers of marked trails throughout the ski area. Courses in all disciplines and adapted to all difficulties take you to the closest to nature. If you want to take the height, go to the adventure course of the forest of Dodes. In this sensational setting, you move from tree to tree in more or less difficult paths. Tyrolean at the end of the course will give you an incredible feeling of freedom and a real adrenaline rush !

Le Grand-Bornand also has an immense cultural and architectural heritage that testifies to its activity over the centuries. During the summer, guided tours of the Old Village are organized once a week. From its centuries-old traditions to the birth of the tourist resort, the whole history of the town is unveiled in a historic and gourmet journey. The icing on the cake : you will also have the right to a tasting offered by the traders and farmers bornandins. Nothing better than fresh product to enjoy the local gastronomy !

If you are staying with your family during the summer, know that the resort carries the label "Famille Plus Montagne", and for good reason ! Everything is made for kids and adults, passive pleasant moments together. The last week of August, families have been honored for 25 years at the Grand-Bornand with the festival "Au Bonheur des mômes". Nearly 450 performances are held in the every corners of the village. Children and parents are all present in these shows of all disciplines : music, theater, dance, singing, etc. Workshops are also offered by the professionals in order to make your children herbalists.

Numerous hikes from the village, which is nice on holiday. The creperie in the village is very good value for money (better to book). It is good to have a drink at the pub where the welcome is warm. The jewellery shop is also worth a visit... Do not hesitate to browse the village and its shops...

For snowshoe or ski rental, go to Perillat in the town centre. They are super professional and the reception is really nice. The snowshoe outing "discovery of the ibexes" is great. You can see these animals up close in a beautiful setting.
