Nestled in the heart of the Tarentaise, the peaceful Les Allues is known above all for its renowned ski area. Méribel Les Allues is a village perched at 1100 meters above sea level with a traditional architecture. It was on this peaceful community that the Scottish Peter Linsday imagined in the 1930s the future resort of Méribel. Today, the four resort villages created in this territory are known all over the world for their wonderful trails. Calm, authenticity and heritage are the key words of Méribel les Allues. Situated a little away from other resort-towns, it is nevertheless well connected to the ski area. From the Olympe gondola, you get to the slopes in a few minutes... and you get to rest away from the hustle and bustle of the resort every night. Happiness !
Méribel... it's a name that ski lovers all know. Its ski area has 150 kilometers of varied pistes, dedicated to both beginners and skiers. Most of them are over 1800 meters above sea level, which guarantees quality snow throughout the season. And for those who see the big picture, Méribel is part of the largest ski area in the world ! 600 kilometers of slopes, eight ski resorts... And a single package to benefit from all its advantages... welcome to Les 3 Vallées, the name of this true winter sports paradise ! Méribel is located in the heart of this ski area, which gives it a privileged location to reach the other seven ski resorts. And since every resort has its own atmosphere, everyone finds its happiness there !
Méribel les Allues is also a village with its history and traditions. Its inhabitants proudly protect the heritage that has made the Allues the charming town that it is today. From the traditional bread oven to the narrow narrow streets, the Allues are punctuated with small typical Savoyard details. To know more about the village, do not hesitate to make a detour to the Museum of the Allues. Housed in an old building called Maison Bonnevie, there are four exhibition rooms highlighting various aspects of its past. From traditional costumes and objects of yesteryear to the organization of the Olympic Games in Albertville in 1992, the customs and highlights of the town are worthily represented in this small authentic museum.
Meribel in winter, it is also snowshoeing in a immobile and sparkling nature. Located at the gates of the Vanoise National Park, the town allows you to discover incredible fauna and flora as well as breathtaking landscapes : mythical peaks, glaciers, larch forests... We always ask for more !

A walk around the lake of Tueda is a must for us as is a short walk to Meribel with a free shuttle back.

The Sherpa's delicatessen and cheese section was well stocked and of high quality, which meant that we didn't have to systematically go down to the centre for specialist shops.

Very pleasant station at the preserved site without building bars. Very good value for money at "La Cantine d'Alvar" at the foot of the slopes.

Being the most "saturated" week in terms of holidaymakers, it appears that traffic is easy and there are sufficient parking spaces (except in Méribel centre at the "rond-point des pistes"). But for restaurants in the evening, it's best to take your car. All the information is available at the tourist office and even at the Moutiers train station (shuttle bus lines, maps of the lifts and slopes, restaurant lists with annotations, resort maps, geographical location of each building and hotel, etc.).
