Located in the north of the island of Gran Canaria, in Spain, Moya finds its place between the highest peaks of the island and its most beautiful coastal paths. Particularly well served by nature, the village, perched at an altitude of 490 metres, is the ideal place for anyone looking to hike in the open air. With its many ravines (Azuaje ravine, Moya ravine...), its natural caves, its ridges, its peaks (Los Moriscos, 1771 meters above sea level), its volcanoes (Caldera de Los Pinos and Montanon Negro) and its immense green valleys (Doramas Rural Park, Barranco Oscuro Nature Reserve), Moya multiplies the invitations to walks, equipped, of course, with good walking shoes.

In terms of architecture, Moya has everything of the small Canary Islands village. Along its colourful alleys, you will discover all the beauty of the houses that dot its historic heart like a rainbow, undeniably inviting you to dream. The magnificent Tomas Morales House-Museum is one of the most famous, thanks in particular to its flamboyant carmine colour that contrasts with the surrounding greenery. The Hermitage of San Bartolomé, the Heredad de Aguas, but also the church of Moya are absolutely worth seeing. The latter is one of the city's most striking buildings: in neo-Romanesque style, this black and white building overlooks an immense cliff while looking out over the city and the sea. Named Our Lady of the Candelaria, the one that was originally a small hermitage in the 15th century is now one of Moya's major sites. You will not be able to miss it, it is one of the most visited sites in the municipality. While passing through Moya, it would be a pity not to visit the great monastery of the Ravine de Valeron: located about ten kilometres from the city centre of Moya, this prehistoric site was once a vast granary that the Canary Islanders used to store their cereal crops. With more than 300 holes dug in the rock, this honeycomb cave is one of the oldest treasures of the Canary Islands' heritage.

Moya's charm also lies in its coastal strip: spread over nearly 5 kilometres, it connects the hamlets of La Caleta to El Altillo. Sports enthusiasts will particularly like to go to "Caleta Beach": a well-known surf spot, it attracts all year round ski fans from all over the world. Moya also has several truly splendid natural swimming pools along its coastline, where residents and travellers enjoy swimming at any time of the year. The Charco de San Lorenzo, in particular, is the most astonishing: 75 metres long and 45 metres wide, this crystal clear water pool is a real little corner of paradise. Relatively unattended, it will allow you to enjoy beautiful breaks for swimming in the island sun.

Finally, in terms of gastronomy, Moya is known for its cheeses and gourmet pastries such as "bizcochos lustrados", its soupiros and tortitas de Platanos, sweet sweets that you will not be able to resist!
