The village of Mazeyrolles is located in the Dordogne department, on the border with the Lot-et-Garonne. In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and only a few steps away from Villefranche-du-Périgord, Mazeyrolles is a small paradise for those who find happiness in authenticity. A village of barely 300 souls, it is located in the magnificent territory of the Périgord Noir, on the border with the Périgord Pourpre.

To discover Mazeyrolles, we recommend that you opt for gentle travel: walks, bike rides, scooters... Means of transportation that will allow you to take the time to admire the richness of its built heritage. Emblematic of the Périgord, the local architecture is full of sites made of old stones that tell the ancient history of the village. What to see? The church of Saint-Clair de Fontenilles: badly damaged during the Hundred Years' War, it was partly destroyed in 1593 in order to fortify the neighbouring manor house, a former commandery of the Hospitallers of Saint John, of which one of the towers, built at that time, still remains today. Since restored, this church is one of the oldest buildings in Mazeyrolles and is worth a visit for its splendid stained glass windows. Mazeyrolles is a reunification of several small hamlets and is also home to other churches, such as the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and the church of Saint-Jacques de La Trappe, of which traces can be found as early as the 12th century. The Aigueparse manor house and the Greffier mill will complete your discovery of the local buildings.

Ideally located, in the heart of a region with a fascinating history, the commune of Mazeyrolles is a small paradise of peace. So, after strolling through its market, push the door of one of its restaurants to discover the delights of the local gastronomy. On the menu? Cep omelette, foie gras, Bergerac wines, truffle pasta, strawberry pie, cabécou, walnut pie, honey, blood sausage, Sarlatan apples...
